The death of Kenny Goldsmith has been a topic of interest for many people in the Wootton-on-the-Cam community for almost 40 years. The initial investigation by the police in 1984 had determined that Kenny's death was the result of misadventure. However, with recent activity in the local area, two amateur podcasters decided to take it upon themselves to re-examine the case. With some help from retired police Chief Inspector, Robert Jennings, this joint investigation with fresh eyes has produced some new results.
These new results have led to the reopening of the inquest into Kenny Goldsmith’s death, the result of which is due any time. The family of Kenny Goldsmith has been waiting for decades for answers, and the reopening of the inquest is bringing hope for closure. Kenny's brother, Alex Matheson, expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the amateur podcasters and Robert Jennings. He said, "It has been a long and difficult journey for our family, but we have never given up hope. We are grateful for the efforts of everyone who has worked to uncover the truth about what happened to Kenny."
The Cam Gazette spoke to Robert Jennings, who retired in 2001, about his involvement in the case. He expressed regret that he never managed to see the investigation through to the end and is now hopeful that the reopening of the inquest will finally bring closure to the family of Kenny Goldsmith.
