It comes with great sadness that I have to inform you of the tragic death of the recently elected Emily Jones.

Her body was discovered this morning outside the building directly below the location of her hospital room.

Mayor Emily Jones, a lifelong resident of Wootton-on-the-Cam, was elected as the town's new mayor in May. Jones, a member of the Labour Party, won the election with a majority vote. She is known for her strong advocacy for social justice issues and is committed to addressing the challenges facing the town, including affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and community safety. 

As a former teacher at the local primary school, Jones has a deep understanding of the needs of families and children in the community. She has also been actively involved in community organizations, including the Wootton-on-the-Cam Youth Centre and the Wootton Environmental Action Group.

It is understood that she had been placed in a single room after a recent stomach upset after celebrating her campaign win at the We Kneed the Dough restaurant.

We must stress the restaurant has been clear of any involvement by health officials. 

An inquest will happen after Emily's autopsy has been conducted.

It is still unclear how Emily Jones died as a medical staff reported that she was being sedated and the windows had been secured.
